Welcome to Arlington:Belmont

Arlington is comprised of several neighborhoods including East Arlington, Arlington Heights, Morningside, and Jason Heights. While not as seeped in American History as some of its sister cities such as Concord and Lexington, Arlington does take pride in its historical roots and is the home of Samuel Wilson, better known as Uncle Sam. Historic single-family Colonials, Queen Anne’s, and Victorians line the streets of Arlington with a few condos and townhouses in the mix.

Largely a residential community, Arlington is short six miles from Boston and bordered by Cambridge making this an ideal community for commuters seeking a small town that feels close to these two bustling cities. Some of the highlights are Sky Pond Park where residents enjoy playgrounds, fishing, and exploring the pond with canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards. Arlington is also one of the towns comprised of the ten-mile Minuteman Bikeway which links Bedford, Lexington, Arlington, and Cambridge. Often used by pedestrians and bicyclists to connect to the Alewife T station and bus lines, this stretch of trails offers an abundance of recreational activities such as jogging, rollerblading, cycling, and leisurely strolls.

Some neighborhood favorites are the locally owned Quebrada, a cozy bakery, that serves up some of the most delicious treats in town complimenting Barismo’s fine artisan coffee. One of the best restaurants in Arlington is LaVictoria Taqueria recognized for its authentic Mexican dishes. And, if you’re in the mood for a movie, the locals flock to the 1920’s era Capitol Theatre.

Right next door to Arlington is the town of Belmont known as “the town of homes” for its residential collection of single-family homes. In the 1900s, Belmont attracted artists, authors, educators, and scientists alike seeking a quieter place to reside. Home to the Mass Audubon’s Habitat Education Center & Wildlife Sanctuary, one can see why Belmont would be an attractive option to the city. This wildlife sanctuary offers landscapes, woods, meadows, and ponds to explore as well as educational classes to all residents. Comprised of two town centers, Belmont Center and Cushing Square, Belmont offers a tight-knit community of family businesses and small-town charm.
