Welcome to North End & Waterfront

Perhaps best known as the preeminent place in Boston to get authentic Italian food, the North End is one of Boston’s most historic and popular residential neighborhoods, the North End welcomed multiple waves of immigrants after it was settled by the Puritans and remains a community-oriented neighborhood.

The character of the North End neighborhood is influenced by the Italian cuisine that draws locals and visitors there for lunch and dinner daily. Although only encompassing 0.36 square miles, the North End is home to close to 100 restaurants. That doesn’t even count the numerous cafes and pastry shops or specialty meat, cheese, and produce shops where residents can purchase fresh ingredients to prepare at home.

The continued influence of community on the North End can also be seen in the neighborhood's jubilant street festivals and feasts celebrated throughout the summer. However, it doesn’t have to be a feast celebration or festival weekend for the streets of the North End to be teeming with music, food, and fun. On a nice day, the neighborhood's green spaces fill with residents playing bocce ball, taking a leisurely stroll, or just catching up with one another.

The narrow streets of the North End are lined with brick rowhouses. Originally constructed as apartments around the beginning of the 19th Century, most of the rowhouses have been since been converted into condos. As a result, single-family properties are a rarity in the North End. The North End has one of the city’s most lively and established communities. Residents in the North End are drawn to the neighborhood’s vibrancy, incredible restaurants, and proximity to the Financial District. Across from the North End is the Waterfront community.

The Waterfront is booming with luxury condominiums development. Most majestic are the Harbor Towers, featuring two identical 40-story luxury residential buildings, and the Battery Wharf Residences, consisting of 104 luxury condos. Home to the Rose Kennedy Greenway, which is comprised of a string of parks is a wonder to behold with its magnificent roses, its own carousel, and fountains. Street vendors can be found along Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park displaying their arts and crafts and food trucks cater to satisfy all appetites. People love the Waterfront’s marinas, seafood restaurants, and the New England Aquarium’s four-story fish tank and IMAX Theatre. Stunning harbor views make the Waterfront a very attractive place to live.
